About me
My name is Antonia Armeni, and I was born in Germany to a Greek father and a Spanish mother. Seventeen years ago, after my children had grown up, I attended painting classes that reignited my passion for art. Soon after, I opened an art studio in the heart of the old town of Corfu, a place that became my haven of inspiration and creativity. This marked the beginning of my artistic journey, which has now spanned over six years, dedicated passionately to the realms of abstract art and iconography. These two distinct yet profoundly connected forms of art allow me to explore and express the depths of my creativity and spirituality.
Abstract art is a magical world that demands devotion and sensitivity to truly immerse oneself in it. In this realm, textures and layers of color merge in unique ways, adding depth and complexity to each creation. Every painting I create tells a unique story, each with its own personality and distinctive message. This art form captivates the audience, inviting them to discover and interpret each piece through their personal lens, uncovering the emotions and thoughts hidden within the abstract forms.
Iconography, on the other hand, holds a special place in my heart. Inspired by Saint Spyridon, the patron saint of Corfu, my iconographic works embody a harmonious blend of simplicity and finesse. These creations exude a magical combination of admiration and reverence, inviting viewers to connect with the spiritual essence of each piece. The elegance of the lines and the profound symbolism of the icons create a serene and contemplative atmosphere.
Today, my studio has transformed into a modern gallery and a dynamic creative space. This transformation has been fueled by my deep love for Corfu, an island that continuously inspires me. My new personal collection of abstract art for 2023-2024, titled "Corfu Through My Eyes," showcases my favorite places in the old town, each depicted through different color perceptions. This collection is a heartfelt tribute to the island, portraying its timeless beauty and charm through my artistic lens.
My work is a vivid reflection of my love for Corfu, drawing inspiration from the island's endless and majestic olive groves, the fields adorned with yellow daisies, the fragrant lavender, the serene blue of the sea and sky, and the vibrant colors of the philharmonic bands. Each piece is a unique story, an attempt to convey emotions and experiences through a symphony of colors and lines. My dedication to art is unwavering, fueled by an undiminished passion and boundless creativity.
Over the years, I have held numerous art exhibitions and made television appearances across Greece, sharing my work and passion with a wider audience.
